Eric Schmidt, Chairman and CEO of Google on C-Span
Eric Schmidt
I happened to come across an audio program yesterday via satellite radio (get rid of your TV and get on satellite radio) where Eric Schmidt, Chairman and CEO of Google was giving a speech. I did listen to the program from start to finish and I decided that I would like to post it on my blog, and the reason is quite obvious. Google does affect all bloggers and the blogosphere. I thought his speech was very good. But what he said about 'cloud computers' was quite scary to me. As if Google had not been compared to 'Big Brother' of George Orwell's '1984', he was talking about people having virtual computers. He gave the most compelling reasons why people would want to switch over to 'cloud computers'; he asked how many of us had our computers crush on us and lost all data. That horrible event had happened to me on more than one occasion, but what this man has in mind it total control of our mind and soul. He said the way 'cloud computers' would work is the people would log online, and they have their computer online instead of the physical computer that you can touch, carry and protect. That's it! I guess it would be no different than having a blog, except that all that you think and write about would be online -of course, safe and secure from prying eyes. Yea, right! At any rate, I think the first two links might be of interest to readers of my blog. Remember: Videos on C-Span drop down and disappear in chronological order as new ones come to replace them, and the only way to get the older versions would be to buy them from C-span for about $30. So you better grab your cup of coffee and settle down and watch Big Brother, Eric Schmidt. Please pass this link to your email list.
